Origin8tive was founded in Cheltenham in 2004 by Brian Lewis, and is still led by him as CEO. The business exists for one reason: to bring genuine engineering discipline to the programmes where software failure is not an option.
Brian's career spans 30+ years across quality assurance and quality engineering. He cut his teeth on some of the most demanding safety-critical systems in existence, from heart-lung bypass equipment to air traffic control. For the past 20 years, his focus has been UK defence and security. That heritage shaped how Origin8tive works: with rigour, accountability, and a refusal to treat assurance as a box-ticking exercise.
Quality Engineering as an integrated discipline
Today, Origin8tive operates as a Quality Engineering practice. That means an integrated discipline covering every stage of software delivery, from secure-by-design and shift-left through to requirements and design reviews, automated builds, code reviews, static analysis, environment management, test execution, reporting, and validation. Quality assurance is embedded as a core activity within it, not applied as a gate at the end.
We deliver this through five connected services: Cyber Test Ranges, Test Assurance, Automation Solutions, Managed Service, and Sovereign Cloud Services. Our team of 65+ specialists operates from Hub8, Cheltenham's dedicated cyber and technology hub. You'll find us leading workshops, speaking at industry events, and embedded inside some of the UK's most critical programmes.
